The Philippine Embassy in Canada featured an exhibit titled “Aming Tinubuang Lupa” (Our Native Land) by renowned Filipino artist Manuel Baldemor on December 14, 2017. At the event, Baldemor introduced his triptych works named “Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao,” which depicted scenes from the Philippines’ three major island groups using his characteristic style of geometric shapes and vibrant colors. Inspired by the embassy’s new building which had floors named after these islands, Baldemor donated these artworks to the embassy at the end of the exhibit. The exhibit showcasing Philippine Folk Modernism was held in the Mindanao Hall from December 15, 2017, to January 12, 2018.
