Description

Gus Albor, born in August 1948, is a renowned painter and sculptor celebrated for his minimalist abstract creations, solidifying his presence in the Philippine art landscape since the 1970s. A graduate of the University of the East School of Music and Fine Arts, Albor furthered his artistic education with a British Council study grant, attending the West Surrey College of Fine Art. His artworks have graced exhibitions in various corners of the globe, including Germany, Italy, Japan, France, and the United States, to name just a few. Albor’s distinctive preference for minimal color palettes, characterized by extreme subtlety, gentle transitions, and subdued harmonies, provides a profoundly sensory experience for the viewer. While many abstract artists may claim to create art as physical objects, Albor views his paintings as expressions of his convictions and ideas, serving as a profound exposition of his existence.
