Description

CalligraFilipino is a stylized version of baybayin, the Philippine indigenous writing system, with elements from Philippine traditional culture. Inspired by his immersion in Japanese calligraphy art, Filipino visual artist and graphic designer Taipan Lucero developed the CalligraFilipino “to ignite a cultural renaissance, and a renewed love and appreciation for our culture.”

During the launch of his first international solo exhibition hosted by the Philippine Consulate General and Sentro Rizal San Francisco on 16 September 2022, Lucero presented to Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer, a CalligraFilipino painting featuring the five core values of the Department of Foreign Affairs: patriotism, integrity, professionalism, excellence, and service. The oil painting in canvas is currently on display at the Consulate’s Sentro Rizal Library.
