Description

This painting depicts a man – Dr. Jose Rizal – in a brown suit poised and looking forward. He has short, dark hair and a mustache, and is looking directly at the painter with an intense gaze. His face is close up, allowing us to see his facial features clearly – including his eyes, nose, mouth and ears. The background of the painting is mostly browns and tans which complement the colors of his clothing nicely.

He looks confident yet serious; perhaps he’s posing for this portrait that will hang on these walls forevermore. This painting captures not only his physical appearance but also hints at something deeper about who he is as a person – strong-willed yet thoughtful – fitting for the man who ultimately became recognized as the Philippine National Hero.
