Description

“Puto Bumbong” is a painting by Jose V. Blanco, the patriarch of a prolific family of artists who developed a style called folk realism. He was best known as a muralist and National Artist nominee who produced richly colorful and celebratory works of the Tagalog pastorale. Blanco is a folk artist known in Angono by his folk name “Pitok Bunggan”.

The artwork depicts a group of people preparing and consuming puto bumbong, traditional Filipino delicacy prepared in bamboo tubes served during the Christmas season.
