Heber Gonzalez Bartolome (1948 – 2021) was a multifaceted Filipino artist, excelling as a folk and rock singer, songwriter, composer, poet, guitarist, bandurria player, blues musician, and painter. His music drew from the stylistic traditions of Philippine folk and religious melodies. Bartolome was the visionary behind Banyuhay, a protest band known for incorporating the unique sound of the kubing, a native Filipino musical instrument. His compositions were celebrated for their distinctive fusion of rock, blues, and Philippine ethnic rhythms. |
