Description

In a groundbreaking collaboration that aimed to merge their distinct artistic styles into a singular masterpiece, Rafael “Popoy” Cusi, Fidel Malig Sarmiento, and Salvador “Buds” Convocar embarked on an ambitious project: a collaborative painting that would embody their essences. Each artist contributed their expertise to different canvas sections, seamlessly blending their styles to create a cohesive and immersive artwork. Cusi, the “Master of Watercolor,” with his vibrant brushstrokes championing watercolor’s vibrancy and delicacy; Sarmiento, renowned for his exquisite renderings of Philippine heritage houses, and Convocar, known for his eclectic blend of artistic mediums, infused the painting with layers of depth and texture and abstract house shapes amidst an abstract floral background. Employing a mix of painting, pastels, and graphic design, they would add dynamic elements to the composition, creating visual contrasts and enhancing the overall narrative. As they worked collaboratively on the canvas, the artists drew inspiration from their shared cultural heritage and collective vision for the project. They sought to capture not only the physical beauty of the Philippines but also its rich history, cultural traditions, and vibrant spirit.
