Description

Cockfighting (Sabong in Filipino) is hugely popular in the Philippines as a game, sport or pastime. The cocks fight until one of them dies or is critically injured. For games, the roosters are usually specially bred and conditioned for increased stamina and strength.

The painting, almost abstract, depicts two roosters fighting. Movement and intensity, as what cockfighting involves, may be inferred from the way the brush strokes were executed and the colors chosen.
