Description

Donated to the Philippine Embassy in Rabat, Morocco, on the occasion of the reopening of the Embassy. —— Carlito Camahalan Amalla, a Filipino painter who is a member of the Agusan-Manobo tribe, uses his art as a means of portraying the rich and colorful culture of the Manobos. Yukos, which means male in Manobo, is an example of his artwork depicting a male figure in traditional Manobo attire. Mr. Amalla was the featured artist in the Embassy-organized exhibit, “Kinabuhi: Ompo and Suyam of Agusan Manobo,” held in Rabat Morocco from 12 to 14 October 2022 in celebration of the National Indigenous Peoples Month and Museums and Galleries Month. These artworks were donated mostly by artists from Batangas, the home province of the Ambassador. While there is no particular theme or genre of the artworks displayed at the Embassy, these are meant to highlight the creativity of Filipino visual artists and at the same time give a Filipiniana touch to the chancery.
